Company History

"The roots of true achievement lie in the will to become the best that you can become."

Southern Farm Bureau Life Insurance Company was organized in the spring of 1946 through the team efforts of five southern Farm Bureau Federations. The five organizing states were Alabama, Arkansas, Kentucky, Mississippi and Texas.

The dedicated leaders of those Federations had followed through on their vision: meeting the widespread needs of southern farmers, a group discovered to be underinsured. Through excellent planning and organization, and the active support of the farming communities themselves, the new institution called Southern Farm Bureau Life Insurance Company began operations on January 2, 1947 and through focused management, quickly enjoyed tremendous growth.

Since that time other states have joined us. The Southern Farm Bureau Life Insurance Company family now includes Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina, Texas and Virginia, a ten-state service area!

Like other Farm Bureaus who had organized to manage their own insurance companies, Southern Farm Bureau Life Insurance Company's initial mission was to serve farmers and ranchers, their families, and citizens associated with the farm industry by providing reasonably priced life insurance. As the Company's mission of serving Farm Bureau members expanded, so did insurance product offerings.

Now the Company offers many different types of insurance coverage, but the primary mission is unchanged. Southern Farm Bureau Life Insurance Company is here to serve needs of families across the South.
